Impacts 0f Atmospheric Humidity on Mobile Cell Phone Radiation Intensity in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria

JETI Admin2

Abstract

The cell phones were incorporated with different subscriber identity modules to receive and transmit signals inform of electromagnetic radiation from all network providers in Nigeria such as MTN, GLO Airtel and 9Mobile. As the Cell Phone can operates in all weather conditions, the radiation intensity in form of power density radiation is known as non-ionizing radiation. This has negative impacts such as ill health on the life of cell phone users. Since the atmospheric humidity is the amount of water vapour present in the atmosphere, operating this equipment during humidity period affect the radiation performance of the cell phone. This study was carried out in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria to access the impact of humidity on the power density radiation levels radiating from mobile cell phone to its environment. The term, power density as one of the three quantities used to measure Electromagnetic Radiation. The average power density radiation during the peak of humidity in the month of December, 2023 were measured and evaluated and compared with the intensity of radiation during sunshine in January, 2024 using different brands and models of mobile cell phones available in Nigeria telecommunication market. The increase in average relative humidity gives rise to a decrease in power density radiation levels from mobile cell phone and vice versa. This shows an inverse relationship between the radiation emitted from mobile cell phones during humidity and sunshine radiation intensity. The results obtained showed that relative humidity has a significant impact on the reduction of radiation intensity coming from mobile cell phones.
